The Lore of Ergus

Cultures

These seven independent nations with combined majority influence over Ergus each have distinct forms of government in diverse biomes.

The landscapes of Ergus have uniqueness in their features, from the Ice Crystal Plains that glimmer with a faint iridescent sheen, to the desert to the Painted Sands where grains of sand in every conceivable color can be found. The most refined ornate architecture of ingenious sparkling and industrious design can be seen in the trade city of Sarova. The darkest murky swamps are found in Lodour, and the lush, rolling hills of Merkadia are skirted by the foreboding Gloodwoods. From the immense and jagged peaks of the Onyx Isles, to the Red Crags where blackened chasms of lava never cease to flow, there is surreal wonder to be found in Ergus.

Ice Crystal Plains

The vastness of the sparkling ice plains and the contrast of the great blood red castles and cities cause the Ice Crystal Plains to be considered some of the most beautiful lands in Luctenia. Both the great houses of the nomadic Alfinn and the proud Kingdom of Altheim are strong and sturdy, putting great value on their honor. The great storms from the south and scarcity of quality farming areas force the two people to work together and hold to the alliances of old.

Lodour

The nation of Lodour is located in the Bloodbound Swamp on the northwest corner of Lucentia. At first glance, the swamp is strikingly beautiful and easily hides its dangers. Constructs of vegetation commonly called Bog Striders roam the swamp, attacking settlements unprovoked. The harsh nature of the land, creatures of the swamp, and a question of leadership are some of the challenges for the people of Lodour.

Merkadia

In the fertile lands to the north of the Acrey Lake reside the Merkadian people. Merkadians may work hard, but it doesn’t stop them from spending time with family and their clan, telling stories, challenging each other in the fighting ring, and creating beautiful carvings and works of art. To the west lies the Gloomwood, also known as the “Forest that Never Sleeps”. While most avoid the Gloomwood, those that happen to find themselves within its vicinity can hear the constant growls and snarls of the beasts within.

The Onyx Isles

Born from the struggles of its early inhabitants, The Onyx Isles are located within the Acrye Lake. The beautiful landscape of the Onyx Isles, with its white sandy beaches, beautiful fruit-bearing trees, and bright-colored creatures, is deeply cut into the floating communities of tied-together boats and pieces of various wreckage. Existing on the fine line between chaos and stability, the control of the guildmasters forming the Onyxia Conclave is one of the few actual laws of the Onyx Isles.

The Painted Sands

A giant rock formation rising through the clouds, a massive pillar of stone to survey the barren desert around it. Surrounding the Well Spring is a vast oasis, the home of the Stone Peoples who use the water to farm the land and feed the people of the Painted Sands. The Walkers of the Sand are a nomadic people that travel the desert moving between the 7 major oases of the Painted Sands.

The Red Crags

A land of lush greenery and searing heat; strips of brilliant green farmland and jungle alternate with lava flows. Barrier walls of Fireglass shelter the small dotted villages surrounding The World’s Heart, a massive, active volcano.  A resilient people with fire in their hearts, the populace flock to their dueling circles for entertainment; the competitors seeking to rise in rank within the kingdom.

Savova

Nestled along the picturesque banks of Acrye Lake, Sarova rises with its striking blend of modernity and tradition. Sprawling docks reflect the city’s pivotal role as a trading hub, where stories and goods intermingle in a symphony of exchange. Above all, it’s the people of Sarova who make it truly exceptional. Their industrious nature and warm hospitality extend a heartfelt invitation to all who step foot within the city’s bounds.

The Wylds

The untamed expanse of the Wylds sprawls across the uncharted territories of Ergus, distinct from the well-defined borders of the seven recognized nations. Not simply a geographic entity but a tapestry of diverse communities, from the humblest of hamlets to sprawling cities that have carved their existence amidst the untamed landscape. Here, the spirit of independence and self-sufficiency reigns supreme.
